GLHFH Work Day Info

Needed:

  • A refillable water bottle – water coolers will be on site.

  • Bring a lunch unless otherwise directed.

  • Sunscreen if applicable

  • Closed-toe shoes – steel toes aren’t required but are recommended.

  • Jeans and other durable pants are strongly encouraged; Clothes that can get dirty.

  • If you have hand tools you like to use – feel free to bring them labeled with your name.

  • Your own Personal Protective Equipment if you have it. Safety glasses, hard hats, and gloves are available. 

  • A hard hat will be provided (but must be returned) and disposable dust masks and ear plugs will be available.

 

Avoid:

  • A cell phone – please leave your phone in the car.

  • Please refrain from using earbuds in place of earplugs, they don’t protect as well and can be a distraction.

  • Loose clothing – clothing can get caught in power tools or on scaffolding

 

Agenda for a typical Saturday (first-time volunteers)

  • 8:15 AM – arrival, sign-in, complete volunteer waiver

  • 8:30 AM – orientation, safety talk

  • 11:30 AM – lunch time (1/2 hour)

  • 2:30 PM – depart (you have the option to stay longer; see Andy)

 

Location & Parking

  • Use 1616 Scott St, 17701 for your GPS.

  • Park on the street in front of construction or open lots.
