GLHFH Work Day Info

Needed:

  • a refillable water bottle – water coolers will be on site.

  • Lunch & insulated lunch box (Thursday-builds only); lunch is provided on Saturday-builds.

  • Sunscreen if applicable

  • Closed-toe shoes – steel toes aren’t required but are recommended.

  • Jeans and other durable pants are strongly encouraged; Clothes that can get dirty.

  • If you have hand tools you like to use – feel free to bring them labeled with your name.

  • Your own Personal Protective Equipment if you have it. Safety glasses and gloves are available. 

  • A hard hat will be provided (but must be returned) and disposable dust masks and ear plugs will be available.

 

Avoid:

  • A cell phone – please leave your phone in the car.

  • Please refrain from using earbuds in place of earplugs, they don’t protect as well and can be a distraction.

  • Loose clothing – clothing can get caught in power tools or on scaffolding

 

Agenda for a typical day

  • 8:15 AM – arrival, sign-in, complete volunteer waiver

  • 8:30 AM – orientation, safety talk

  • 11:30 AM – lunch time (1/2 hour)

  • 2:30 PM – depart (you have the option to stay longer; see Andy)

 

Location & Parking

  • Use 1610 Scott St for your GPS. and you won’t be able to miss us. Follow Scott St. to the intersection at Oliver St. then turn left into lot. See image.
